Here at Jecca Blac, we love pride! During summer, there is often more pressure to show off one’s pride at a big event, like a local parade or party. Well, we know that not all people love big crowds, so we wanted to provide some alternative ideas. Our first idea is having an LGBTQ+ movie night! Here are some of our favorites.
- Love, Simon: Based on the great book, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, this movie follows high school student Simon through his journey of coming out to his friends and family while also trying his best to figure out the identity of another student who with he has become enamored.
- Call Me By Your Name: Set in 1983, this is a story about Elio and Oliver as they spend the summer at an Italian villa owned by Elio’s family. After getting out of a relationship with Marzia, Elio begins to pursue Oliver, who is a bit reluctant at first. As the summer goes on, more and more develops between the two.
- Bohemian Rhapsody: This biopic, a celebration of Freddie Mercury’s life, goes into detail about both how he got his start with Queen, the music they produced, and how he dealt with his personal life and sexuality as he got older.
- Rocketman: Newest of the list to come out, a recent film that portrays the vivid fantasy that is Sir Elton John’s life. It follows him through his rise to fame, his struggle with addiction, and his eventual growth as a musician.
Watching these movies is the perfect way you can celebrate your pride at home, whether that be by yourself, with your family, or with a group of close friends. Let us know what movie you and your crew liked best!
